Weekly Writing Prompts 11/29/15

Welcome to this week’s writing prompts! With Thanksgiving over for another year and Christmas planning in full swing, this week’s prompts are all about the holidays and tradition.

Happy writing!

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 29, 2015

SUNDAY

What are your favorite family traditions for the winter holidays? Special meals or baking preferences? Epic board game battles with your cousins? Family sing-a-longs?

MONDAY

Write about about a time when you received a special gift or about a gift from someone special. What made the gift so special? Do you still have the gift?

TUESDAY

You sit down to write a Christmas letter to tell your friends and family about the past year. As you sit down the write, you realize three envelopes have disappeared. They’re not on the table nor the floor. You search the rest of the house with no luck. The next day, one of the letters arrives in your mailbox. The second day, a second letter. And day three, the third arrives. The letters are signed by the same person and are addressed to you rather than the original recipients. What does the letter say? Who is sending the cards and how did he/she get them from your home?

WEDNESDAY

Write a letter to Santa Claus – What would be on your grown up wish list?

THURSDAY

What are your favorite holiday themed television specials or movies? What is it about those shows that makes you want to watch them every year?

FRIDAY

It’s 5 o’clock in the morning on Black Friday. You’re standing outside your favorite store ready to take advantage of Black Friday sales. A woman who appears to be a store employee comes to the front of the line and starts handing out a red envelope to random people in line. You think she’s handing out extra coupons or special gift cards. When you open the envelope, you see a black card with gold lettering. It’s not a coupon. You read the card again, not quite sure what to think. The card says …..

SATURDAY

Do you have any favorite decorating tips? Do you have certain ornaments or decorations that have a significant place each year? What makes them important?
